FAQs—answers to frequently asked questions

If you don't see your question answered here, please CONTACT us. To review the game selections, go to CHOOSE A GAME.

Do guests play any other parts?
    A. Only very small roles, if any at all.

    What do the guests do?
    A.
Your guests are there to PLAY! A Whodunnit Mystery Game isn't a serious event. It's "Let's pretend!" time, and your guests are an important element to its success.

Is this like a skit or play?
    A. No, because the Whodunnit actors—from their very first appearance on the scene—are circulating among the guests, answering questions, and acting out short interludes with other actors in order to reveal information and clues which you and your guests will need to solve the crime.

Is the game at my place? Or yours?
    A.
You choose, reserve, and pay for the location of your Whodunnit event. Click here for some suggestions.

Will there be food and drinks?
    A.
As the host or hostess, it will be your decision what to serve your guests. Whodunnit Mystery Games are generally performed as part of a larger event (a banquet, for instance) where refreshments are served.

Do I provide costumes or props?
    A.
Whodunnit players come in costume and "armed" with all the props required to play out the drama. Clients who select games with period settings may encourage guests to come in costume, and occasionally the host/hostess will provide small props (boas, for instance, or hats) for guests to enhance the period atmosphere. Contact us for suggestions or assistance.

Are Whodunnit Murder Mystery games suitable for families and children?
    A. No. Whodunnit Games are interactive dramas with a murder at the heart. The objective for guests is to listen and observe, ask questions of suspects, and form a conclusion as to the identity of the wrongdoer. Even though the games are comic, we don't consider them suitable for children.

Does Whodunnit Inc. perform at private parties?
    A.
Certainly. Although the majority of our work is for corporations, we have also entertained at anniversaries, birthday parties, and wedding receptions, for example. If you are interested in hosting a murder mystery party for the sheer fun of it, we'd be delighted to come.

Does Whodunnit offer parties open to the public?
    A.
No, sorry. However, founder Sherry Wilson has had her interactive plays performed for the public, most recently at the Fringe Festival. You can visit that web site here. Or you might consider throwing your own murder mystery event; for more info on buying a script here.

What is the minimum number of guests for one of Whodunnit's parties?
    A.
We have entertained at parties with as few as 10 guests, but we charge the same as we would for 35 people—the minimum size for enough actors to perform a Whodunnit Game.

What is the largest size group that Whodunnit can accept?
    A. We do not usually accept parties larger than 200 people. CONTACT us and let us know what your needs are.

    A. Whodunnit, Inc. is based in the metropolitan area of Minneapolis—St. Paul, Minnesota.

Do you travel outside the Metro area?
    A. We have done so, but there will be an additional mileage charge. If the traveling time exceeds 2 hours, you may be asked to provide overnight accommodations.
